Launch Night

One of the many faces I pulled during the launch!

My second novel, The Allotment Sisterhood, had a lovely launch night thanks to The Bound bookshop in Whitley Bay. I was interviewed by my friend and director of Bay Tales, Vic Watson. It was a real treat to talk about the story and what inspired me to write this novel.

In a nutshell my Dad, Ernie Stewart, was a keen gardener and had an allotment right next to our house, behind the Fulwell Mill, in Sunderland. So I grew up surrounded by allotments and loved the community that worked on them as well enjoying the sight of the beautiful produce they grew.

This book has a gardening month per chapter and as well as the three main characters, Rose, Kate and Sophia’s journeys, there are details of what is happening in the natural world.

It follows each woman as she fights against being discovered and past mistakes coming to light. They don’t know each other at first but bond over their need to keep secrets hidden.

If anyone wants to hear me talk about it I am speaking at Forest Hall library on Thurs 10 September and Port Independent cafe in Sunderland on Friday 30 October.

To buy my book, you can order it from Forum Books here or on Amazon and Kindle
