Ta-dah! Cover reveal

Me, left, with Joanne.

Today, Friday, 12 June, I’ve revealed the unique artwork for the cover of my new novel, The Allotment Sisterhood, created by Cullercoats artist Joanne Wishart.

The women’s contemporary fiction novel follows three women, Rose, Kate and Sophia who take on a neglected allotment to help improve their wellbeing. The trio are wary of each other until they find a common bond. They each hope they’ve buried their pasts. When a video of the allotments’ Halloween bonfire explosion goes viral the women fear their lives could also go up in flames.

“Joanne’s landscapes are stunning representations of the North East and I knew she was the perfect artist to create my allotment story world. She has captured everything from tiny details of vegetables growing, to the hut which is the women’s sanctuary.”

The Allotment Sisterhood is Joanne Wishart’s first book cover as her Cullercoats gallery primarily specialises in her original paintings, limited edition prints, cards, lamp shades, cushions and locally inspired gifts.

Joanne said, “I was interested in working with Kay as my father worked in horticulture when I was young and we always grew vegetables in our garden at home. The women’s story and also Kay’s approach, resonated with me. I think it’s important to challenge yourself, follow your dreams and give different things a try.”

The cover will be on display at the Joanne Wishart Gallery as part of the Cullercoats Festival Saturday, 12 - Sunday 13 June.

The Bound bookshop in Whitley Bay will host a launch for The Allotment Sisterhood on Wednesday, 15 July, 7-9pm and the novel will be available to pre-order from there. Just drop me a note on the contact form on this website and I’ll send you a note when the pre-order form is ready.

In case you don’t know…my debut novel, The Stand-Up Mam, was Runner-Up in the Self-Published category of the Comedy Women in Print Awards in November 2025.

The Allotment Sisterhood is also available to pre-order on Kindle.
